Henson School of Science and Technology at Salisbury University (SU) invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for the position of **Assistant Professor of Engineering in the Department of Physics**. This is a 10-month, full-time tenure-track position that begins in August 2026. A candidate with significant experience in teaching and research may be considered for an appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor, with a commensurate salary.Instructional duties include teaching 12 contact hours per semester of undergraduate courses and laboratories in physics and/or engineering at the introductory and advanced levels, particularly Coastal Engineering courses. Duties will also include engineering curriculum development and contributing to the general physics curricula. Faculty members are expected to participate in campus service activities and maintain an active program of scholarship that includes mentoring students in research projects.**Required/Minimum Qualifications**A Ph.D. or equivalent in coastal, civil, ocean, or environmental engineering must be completed before the date of hire. Candidates without coursework in coastal engineering must complete a graduate certificate in coastal engineering (with tuition paid by SU) within two years of hiring or as quickly as allowed by the granting institution, whichever is longer. Candidates must have effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. A commitment to serving a diverse student body and promoting an equitable and inclusive learning environment in the classroom is also required.
