Assistant Headteacher - Early Years Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1

Salary range: L7-11, £60,145 - £66,368, permanent post, to commence 1st September 2026

Ayresome Primary School is seeking to appoint an excellent Assistant Headteacher who can demonstrate outstanding practice with the ability to harness the skills and enthusiasm of all staff and pupils. This post will play a critical role in the life of the school and the wider Academy Trust via:

  • Assisting in the leadership and management of the school – Undertaking the Team Leader role for the phases.
  • Supporting the Headteacher and Deputy Headteachers in meeting the aims of the school.
  • Being a role model for teaching and learning and acting as the Lead Practitioner for Teaching and Learning throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 phases.
  • Assisting the Deputy Headteacher with inclusion support, including behaviour support, mobility and attendance.
  • Making a distinctive contribution to the raising of pupil standards, which will include coaching and mentoring colleagues to ensure practiceATTRIBUTE is better than good.
  • Contributing effectively to the work of the wider school team.
  • Taking advantage of CPD opportunities and using the outcomes effectively to improve pupils’ learning.
  • Ensuring the continuation of the high standards of safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children.
  • Line managing employees.
  • Undertaking staff and pupil wellbeing Maker.

This post will also undertake a regular teaching commitment, which is not class based.
