Assistant Financial Accountant

Location: London Victoria (hybrid model, minimum 3 days in office).

Nord Anglia Education – the world’s leading private school’s organisation is recruiting an Assistant Financial Accountant. You will be joining the Finance team in our London HQ.

London is our global headquarters where 200 colleagues across Finance, Risk, Corporate Development, Legal, HR, MAC and Education drive the success of our 80+ schools in 30+ countries. By joining our fast paced and innovative organisation, you will be regularly liaising with our global team‑mates from the Philippines to Peru, from Beijing to Boston and beyond.

The role

As Assistant Financial Accountant your focus will be:

  • General assistance in the monthly financial close process, posting manual journals and processing intercompany transactions, including invoices, credit notes and other journals such as dividends, funding, loans and associated interest entries.
  • Maintaining intercompany reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Responsibility for ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are completed, reviewed, and signed off on a monthly basis. That any actions resulting from sign off are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with annual audit, including preparing statutory packs for central entities.
  • Performance of, and compliance with internal controls with respect to the Group’s external reporting and continuous improvement of controls.
  • Preparation and submission of additional ad-hoc management reports and analyses.
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team and stakeholders across the different regions to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Assist and support initiatives to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Improvements in the efficiency of the monthly financial close process results in the close process being reduced significantly.
The Successful Candidate will possess
  • Degree in finance/accounting or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Holder of a professional accounting qualification(s)(ACA, ACCA) – Part qualified/ newly qualified.
  • Strong academic performance at tertiary level in the relevant discipline.
  • Maintaining ledgers of Holding companies/ Head Office.
  • Experience in multi-national organisation at a Group level, candidates from Big4 or top 10 practice welcome (i.e. confident with translating foreign currencies).
  • Strong performer in previous role(s).
  • Highly analytical.
  • Ability to “think out of the box” and create from scratch.
