The Church Commissioners for England is a statutory corporation that is a major financial institution managing over £11.1 billion assets for the Church of England and an administrative body with regulatory and quasi-judicial duties.

Within this, the Farmland Team oversee their investment portfolio, managing approximately 80,000 acres of let agricultural land, commercial and residential property, spread across England and worth in the region of £600 million. The team are supported by external managing agents.

The Position

This is a varied and hands-on position where the successful candidate will play an active role in:

  • Supporting the delivery of asset management initiatives and estate strategies to ensure optimal performance, working alongside external consultants.
  • Evaluating the viability of small-scale rural development projects and identifying new investment opportunities.
  • Assisting with sales and acquisitions for a range of assets.
  • Providing support on environmental initiatives and land development through close collaboration with the Sustainability and Strategic Land teams.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be commercially and financially astute, with the following qualities:

  • Ideally MRICS or CAAV, either newly qualified or with a few years’ post qualification experience, and with a proven track record in rural or asset management. Candidates who can demonstrate relevant property experience who are not MRICS will also be considered.
  • Ambitious, strategic, and results focussed, with the initiative to drive projects forward.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with confidence with a wide group of people.
  • Highly organised, able to balance multiple priorities effectively.
