The Role...

Our Quantity Surveyors play a vital role in keeping our business cost-effective and as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor with Clancy, you can learn from the best in our Commercial teams, while completing a bespoke rotational programme, designed to give you a full understanding of the business.

Clancy is a great place to start your career, as we’re a corporate member of the AOA (Association of Apprentices), that connects apprentices across the UK via a dedicated social and professional networking platform.

Your rotations will include estimating, health and safety, finance, plant and other key areas, with some placements based at our Harefield Head Office.

We have a solid track record of developing our people, with many of our senior managers beginning their careers with us, and going on to achieve MBAs, MScs, BScs or professional accreditation such as MRICS.

Along the way, you’ll use your problem-solving and communication skills to help control costs and maximise profits, all while delivering a high-quality service that exceeds client expectations.

Here are some of the things that you’ll get involved with…
  • Generating weekly revenue and cost reports
  • Controlling submissions of daily completed jobs
  • Producing ‘Schedule of Rates’
  • Reconciling Subcontractor costs and preparing payment certificates
  • Liaising with Operations and Planning to monitor job progress and scope changes
  • Reviewing scheme works to ensure targets are on track to be achieved
  • Pricing completed jobs for high volume works
  • Developing relationships with clients to reduce 'Work In Progress' days
  • Analysing of weekly and monthly cost and revenue data
What do you need?
  • SQA Highers at ABBB or equivalent;
  • A-Levels at ABC or BBB;
  • Foundation Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering in conjunction with SQA Highers at AAB.
  • A combination of qualifications totalling 96 SCQF credits at level 6, or Minimum 126 UCAS points
  • You will also need a full and valid UK driving licence, enabling you to travel to sites and other offices
  • An interest in the construction/utilities sector, an inquisitive nature, enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck in and learn, is far more important.
In return, we will offer you....

A fully funded 4 year programme via a regional provider who delivers the apprenticeship on a day release basis, that will see you achieve:

  • Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Construction and the Built Environment (BSc (Hons) Construction and the Built Environment).
  • SCQF Level: 10, which is the Scottish equivalent of an Honours degree.
  • Professional Accreditation: The programme is designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for professional body accreditation, such as working towards chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES)

Support will be provided throughout, with clear career pathways helping you to realise your career ambitions…
