Role description

Our apprenticeship programme offers you an exciting opportunity to jump straight into the professional world and earn a living while studying for professional qualifications. As an Apprentice you will play an active part in driving your career development and be exposed to a variety of projects across the business. Technical experience is key; you’ll be supported by your line manager to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to meet your apprenticeship and work towards accreditation or chartership where applicable. You’ll benefit from structured on‑job training, mentoring, funding and support for accreditations relevant to your programme, as well as the assistance you need to develop and succeed.

Role accountabilities

Our Cost Consultants support cost, commercial and transformational consultancy projects. At its core, cost consultancy involves advising on and managing the cost of construction and property projects, supporting from the beginning of a project lifecycle to influence and drive decision‑making. You will help support clients with cost estimation, project planning, procurement and cost management; your role will be key in providing advice on project finances and contractual relationships. You will monitor budgets and costs throughout the project lifecycle, keeping the client and project team informed.

Apprenticeship Training Standards
  • England – BSc Chartered Surveyor Degree through our trained partners: University of Salford, London South Bank University and Birmingham City University.
  • Scotland – BSc Graduate Apprenticeship in Construction and Built Environment (Quantity Surveying) through Heriot Watt University.
Qualifications & Experience
  • England: at least 5 GCSEs, grade 4–9, including Maths and English; 3 A‑Levels or equivalent, BCC minimum, or BTEC National Diploma, DMM minimum.
  • Scotland: minimum SQA Highers at ABBB (or equivalent) or A‑Levels at ABC or BBB.
  • Resident of the UK/EU/EAA for at least three years prior to starting the course and have the right to work in the UK.
  • Minimum age 18 (Level 6) and have left full‑time education at the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Demonstrate typical Arcadian skills: resilience, creativity, analytical thinking, and teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to use technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel and stay out of home when required (virtual work is embraced where possible).
