About the Project

CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. CMDP+ has secured a new AMP8 Capital Programme. The Strategic Delivery Partner Framework Agreement with Southern Water covers water supply and wastewater treatment work in the eastern half of its region (Kent & Sussex). This project will deliver critical investment in water and wastewater infrastructure from 2025 to 2030, including upgrades to treatment works, pumping stations and reservoirs.

Job Description

The Apprentice Foreperson will learn to supervise foremen, labour, plant, materials and subcontractors, ensuring HSQE, programme and budget requirements are met. The role will be based in Kent or Sussex.

What Apprenticeship Offers

The level and training provider depend on the skills you present at interview. You will work on‑site with your project and off‑site with a training provider (college, university or independent). Guidance and support will be provided by the project line manager, the Early Careers Team and the training provider.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out all work safely and diligently, adhering to Costain’s HSE Policy at all times
  • Undertake a range of tasks suited to your current level of training and development
  • Attend college and complete coursework on time and to a high standard
  • Take on additional responsibility in Years 2 and 3 of the apprenticeship
  • Participate in regular training, career and development reviews with line management, college staff and other stakeholders
Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE or equivalent 5, including English, Maths and Science (Grade 9‑4 or A*‑C)
  • A Level or equivalent 3 A Levels including Maths and a physical science (Grade B in Maths and B, C or above) and/or BTEC or related (Grade DDM or above)
  • A passionate individual looking to undertake an apprenticeship with an award‑winning employer
  • An organised individual capable of meeting deadlines
  • A creative individual interested in the latest technology
  • An individual who enjoys challenges and problem solving
  • All appropriate and equivalent qualifications will be considered
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft software

Desirable Qualifications
  • First aid certification
  • Attendance of SSSTS
  • NVQ Level 3 in Construction Supervision
Additional Requirements
  • Candidates must achieve appropriate security and medical clearances; these will be instigated after a conditional offer of employment.
  • Passport or right‑to‑work documentation must be provided if invited to interview.
  • Some project sites are remote; candidates must be able to travel to the site.
