We’re looking for a dedicated Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our friendly team, focusing on non-malignant hematology, with a special emphasis on red cell disorders.
This exciting role is based at Basildon Hospital, but you’ll also play a key part in supporting red cell disorder services across other MSE sites. You’ll work closely with primary care teams and even review patients in the community – helping us deliver outstanding care where it matters most.
Provide specialist nursing care for patients with sickle cell disease across all three hospital sites within the Trust, ensuring equitable service delivery.
Perform Automated Red Cell Exchange Transfusions (ARCET) for both elective and emergency cases, as per Trust protocols and national guidelines.
Participate in the rota for manual red cell exchange transfusions, ensuring timely and safe delivery of treatment where ARCET is not feasible.
Support and lead the Hydroxycarbamide clinic, including monitoring, education, titration, and adherence counselling for patients on disease-modifying therapies.
Deliver high-quality community-based care, including home reviews, patient education, early intervention, and liaison with primary care and community services.
Conduct specialist assessments and reviews of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring holistic and person-centred care planning.
Act as a point of contact for patients and families, providing expert advice and support regarding sickle cell disease management and treatment options.
