***PLEASE NOTE THIS ADVERT CLOSES THE DAY BEFORE ANY AUTOMATED DATE SHOWN – PLEASE REFER TO THE CLOSING DATE IN THE BODY OF THE ADVERT*****Job Title: 3 x Engineering Project Design Managers (West, Central OR South)****Location Cambuslang****Salary from £69,200 to £86,500 + up to 20% bonus + Car Allowance + Family Medical Cover + Double Match Pension*****Help us create a better future, quicker***You will Manage & Lead your Region (West, Central OR South) of the Engineering Project Managers team formed of highly professional engineers responsible for developing, assessing, coordinating and providing detailed engineering designs, while balancing innovation and value driven engineering to reduce overall asset lifecycle costs.You will be a key influencer in investment planning decisions as part of the development & delivery of the Transmission capital project program centred around supporting the UK reach its Net Zero Target***What you’ll be doing*****Technical Accountabilities*** Overall accountability for the performance, governance, and quality of all engineering deliverables across their regional portfolio ensuring of civil, main plant, protection and control, OHL and cables Engineering deliverables in the region (West, Central OR South) being managed are delivered on time and in line with the required SPT Standards and Policies.* Provide leadership and direction to the regional team of Engineering Project Managers, ensuring clear accountability for the quality and completeness of cost effective solutions at a project/programme timescales as measured by the key dates in the Masterplan while ensuring regulatory financial allowances are achieved in respect of designs.* Establish and maintain regional engineering governance processes, including technical assurance reviews, design verification plans, and deliverable progress tracking.* Chair key design milestone reviews (basic, tender and VFC) to ensure technical adequacy and compliance with business standards.* Ensure that lessons learned, best practices, and design standards are consistently applied across all projects.* Support the Head of Project Design Services in maintaining company-wide engineering assurance frameworks.* Ensure your regions plans are suitably resourced with Engineering and changes managed for the benefit of delivering business targets. Coordination and collaboration will be required across different regions and functions to deliver satisfactory change outcomes.* Ensure that all HSEQ policies are embedded within the engineering solutions delivered* Lead engineering audits and implement corrective or preventive actions as required.* Promote a proactive safety and quality culture within regional teams.* Ensure compliance with all Engineering policies, standards and procedures* Support the engineering requirements of the end-to-end project design process through to construction completion and final record submission* Assist with required engineering aspects of tender preparation and assessment of contracts and frameworks. Develop, implement and monitor a regional scorecard to track engineering deliverables against business targets and make decisions in collaboration with others departments/regions/areas to maintain targets* Act as senior engineering representative for regional clients and stakeholders.* Support bid development, tender reviews, and engineering scope definition for new opportunities.* Manage escalation of complex technical or project issues, ensuring prompt resolution and communication.* Identify, delineate and resolve Engineering problems using Engineering methodology where appropriate. Situations will arise where complex problems cannot be resolved by process and a creative and innovative approach will be required to resolve* Take a proactive approach to continuous improvement by proposing and implementing improvement initiatives that are not obvious to others and will address difficult situations* Make decisions for and/or proposals to Engineering Services with respect to defining Engineering Scope in the Pre Engineering phase of project.* Advise the business on, and supports the identification of, new requirements which the business has been previously unaware of**People accountabilities*** People lead of a group of professional engineers to deliver and coordinate projects.* Deliver performance management for a team of professional engineers in line with HR policy* Ensure adequate training, coaching and mentoring is in place to further advance the knowledge, skills and experience of the team.***What you’ll bring**** Degree in Engineering with relevant experience.* Chartered Engineer Status (or working towards)* Technical oversight and management, Building and applying knowledge skills. Experience with designing in either civil, main plant, protection and control, OHL OR cables engineering, for large electrical infrastructure projects.* People and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.* Ability to implement, apply and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practice in a design environment* Experience in the implementation of new technologies and engineering solutions to achieve reductions in project lifetime costs* Experience in the implementation of new technologies and engineering solutions to achieve reductions in Carbon to produce a more sustainable substation design solution* Proven experience and knowledge of CDM regulations and Designer risk assessment* Experience in the use of BIM for designing Transmission substations.* Having the ability and understanding of the plant and equipment deployed for transmission networks and how it is operated / maintained.* Have the ability to understand technical characteristics of Transmission Substation Protection and Control equipment/schemes* An understanding in terms of the Protection equipment deployed for transmission networks and how it is operated / maintained***What’s in it for you***As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
