Qualifications

  • Significant post qualification experience within a Hospital Aseptic Setting.
  • Aseptic/Cytotoxic Manipulation Skills.

2610 - Chemotherapy Verification Technician

Our inclusive and diverse Pharmacydepartment has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have anestablishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within theTrust where we provide patient-centred clinical Pharmacy services to some 400beds across medical, surgical and specialist areas as well as a number ofoutpatient clinics. We are innovative and forward-thinking andhave invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics andstate of the art dispensaries and technical services. The department is notedto be very friendly, and is constantly looking to develop and expand. This isan exciting time at Barnsley Hospital with the recent implementation ofelectronic prescribing bringing excellent opportunities for further innovationand service development.

Main duties of the job

If you areaself-motivated and forward-thinking individual and would like to playan integral part in pharmacy service developments we have the perfectopportunity for you. We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivatedindividual to be responsible for the coordination and production of theIntravenous Chemotherapy Clinics. You will be able to demonstrate strongleadership skills managing staff, problem solving skills to resolve stockordering issues and communication skills to liaise with the day units and wardsregarding patients and their treatment. You will be integral to supply andpreparation of other bespoke aseptic medicinal products, such as biologics andparenteral nutrition, to the trust. Due to recent exciting developments, thepost holder will contribute to the Trusts expanding portfolio of clinicaltrials and will play an active role in the preparation, supply, and governanceof investigational medicinal products (IMPs), ensuring compliance with GoodClinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory frameworks.

You will be responsible for the coordination andproduction of the Intravenous Chemotherapy Clinics (including those providedfor Weston Park Hospital outreach clinics). Which includes things such as liaising with the Chemotherapy team to ensure that the clinics runefficiently and safely and in a timely manner, co-ordinate and participate in the production and preparation of the IVChemotherapy and resolve stock discrepancies and actiondrug alerts.
