What You Will Do
- Assist in ALM and development and maintenance of strategic asset allocation for multiple CCG portfolios, including three insurance entities, a DB pension plan, and an NPO by evaluating a range of inputs such as existing holdings, relative value across asset classes, capital charges, actuarial liability profiles, liquidity needs, and capital‑market assumptions
- Lead, source, research, and analyze investment managers and strategies, participating in searches and conducting evaluation and due diligence on potential new managers
- Evaluate and monitor investment managers across all CCG portfolios, including the CAP plans, using both quantitative and qualitative methods, ensuring all contractual standards and service‑level agreements are met
- Contribute to the development of intellectual content, including analysis of industry trends in pension and insurance asset management, and assessments of new asset classes
- Monitor asset‑mix levels based on SIPP minimum, target, and maximum ranges. Recommend and coordinate rebalancing transactions among investment managers and the custodian
- Lead the preparation and execution of transaction requests by managing investment instructions, capital calls, and distributions for both public and private market transactions
- Contribute to the development of a holistic investment strategy for each CCG entity, including assisting in the creation and maintenance of strategic asset‑mix targets
- Assist the VP/AVP with portfolio construction and risk analytics, recommending tactical adjustments across multiple asset classes to enhance risk‑adjusted returns
- Develop reporting metrics and KPIs, analyze investment performance, and act as the lead in preparing monthly and quarterly performance reports for the Investment Committee and Board
- Assist the VP/AVP with presentations to the Investment Committee and Board
- Serve as a key point of contact for day‑to‑day relationship management with external partners, including custodians, consultants, investment managers, and other financial institutions
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including MCT, IFRS, and applicable OSFI and FSRA guidelines
- Assist in the preparation of the Investment budgets file detailing the expected income from the portfolios
- Perform other duties as required
Who You Are
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, Business, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics or other related discipline
- Completion of the CFA program
- Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in the investment industry preferably at an insurance firm or a pension plan
- Fundamental understanding of investment products across asset classes, including equity, fixed income, securitized products, preferred shares, private equity, Infrastructure, private credit and real estate
- Familiarity with the accounting, regulatory, risk management and strategic frameworks under which Canadian P& C insurers operate
- Must have thorough knowledge of Liability Driven Investments
