Job Title: Process Development Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sand Material Process Development Manager to develop new material sources and translate existing materials into new applications. This role requires technical expertise in materials, glass science, mineral processing, or chemical engineering to meet new market demands. You will lead process improvement projects on mineral purification processes, working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop new material sources and translate existing materials into new applications.

• Lead process improvement projects on mineral purification processes.

• Conduct IP research, voice of customer analysis, and determine customer requirements.

• Perform feasibility testing, prototyping, gauge development, pilot testing, and cost analysis.

• Manage projects with skills in planning, budgeting, time management, resource allocation, and risk management.

• Generate intellectual properties, including patents, publications, and internal reports.

• Support commercial and manufacturing teams in new process development for high purity sand and tungsten.

• Apply Six Sigma methodology and statistical tools for process improvement and troubleshooting.

• Oversee growth, productivity, sales, and earnings objectives for quartz products.

• Improve impurity yield and process efficiency.

• Oversee the purification process of quartz, ensuring high purity and heat resistance.

  Essential Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Glass Science, Mineral Processing, Geology, or Chemical Engineering.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience within the geological, glass, or quartz industries.

• Managerial experience.

• Proficiency in statistical design and analysis of experimental data, including design of experiments and hypothesis testing.

• Product management experience.

  Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with statistical software such as Minitab.

• Previous lab experience.

• Expertise in sand beneficiation, hot chlorination, calcination, and other mineral processing methods.

• Familiarity with processing refractory metals, including sintering and machining.

• Experience designing equipment for solids processing.

• Understanding and experience with batch and continuous processes.

• Experience with quartz fusion processes including electric fusion, arc fusion, and flame fusion or vapor deposition.

• Mechanical and thermal design modeling using SolidWorks.

• Six Sigma training and/or certifications.

  Work Environment

The position is based in an office attached to a lab and manufacturing facility. You will spend 60% of your time in a lab and 40% in a pilot production plant. This is a full-time, on-site role with no hybrid option. The role involves working between sand and quartz production sites.

This is a Permanent position based out of Richmond Heights, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
