Join Our Team as an Embedded Software Engineer. Micron helps create original internal test equipment to advance its mission of transforming how the world uses information to enrich life for all. You will work in a results-oriented, hands-on, multi-discipline design engineering environment, writing and debugging software on physical hardware. The Equipment Software Design team is looking to hire a driven embedded software engineer to develop software on bare metal, embedded Linux, and higher-level interfaces, collaborating with software and other engineering disciplines to create custom in-house semiconductor equipment from the ground up.

Locations include Boise, Idaho (USA), Penang (Malaysia), and Hyderabad (India).

Responsibilities
  • Design: Develop new and modify existing equipment in cross-discipline design teams (software, electrical, control, and mechanical engineers). Create documentation for designs.
  • Code: Develop in C, C++, Bash, and Python on bare metal and on RHEL-compatible Linux distros in containers.
  • Manufacture: Collaborate with New Product Introduction, Field Service, and Operations teams in the manufacturing and support of equipment.
  • Innovate: Contribute to projects that keep Micron competitive, designing solutions that do not exist yet.
  • Support: Improve existing designs and respond to manufacturing and production support needs.
  • Hands-On Work: Engage daily with electronics, computers, and equipment in lab environments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • C and C++ experience
  • Fundamental mixed-signal knowledge
  • Lab equipment knowledge (oscilloscopes, DMMs)
  • Experience in Linux and the GNU toolchain
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of industry embedded work
  • C, C++ and Python proficiency
  • Dev Tool Experience (Jira, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory)
  • Experience with embedded software tools
  • Proficiency with schematics and PCB layout
  • Proficiency with mixed-signal circuits
  • Proficiency with Linux and GNU toolchain
  • In-depth knowledge of lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs)
  • Experience building physical systems (software + hardware)
