A local charity organization is seeking a York Shop Volunteer to support retail operations in their shops. Volunteers will engage in sorting and pricing items, serving customers, and assisting with donations while working with a friendly team. Full training is provided, and shifts can be tailored to suit availability. The role offers a chance to contribute positively to the local community and gain retail experience.

Our 9 shops in York rely on volunteers to help with a variety of roles both on the shop floor and behind the scenes. Our retail department has 14 shops and a Donation Centre across our catchment area and raises vital funds for St Leonard’s through the sale of pre-loved goods and is also a valuable face of the Hospice across our local communities.
When am I needed? Our shops are open Monday - Saturday 9am - 4pm. Morning shifts tend to run 9am - 1pm, Afternoon shifts tend to run 12:30pm - 4:30pm, and other shifts can be accommodated as long as they are at least 2 hours in length. Weekly or fortnightly shifts are preferred.

Examples of the types of tasks you could help with:
The St Leonard’s Hospice Retail Team (Head Office) will provide you with full training and liaise closely with you over all aspects of your role. Volunteers will be supervised by the Shop Manager and Staff, with support from the Retail Team. The Volunteer Services Team will guide you through the application and induction process and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering.
Volunteers are required to complete mandatory training modules, usually delivered online. Additional booster and refresher training may be delivered as needed. You may also be invited to attend role specific in-person meetings where appropriate.
