Job Title: Community Development Coach x2 (Gosport & Chichester)

Responsible to: Head of Football

Hours p/wk: 37.5 hours; evening and weekend working essential.

Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience circa £23.5 – 26K per annum

Pompey in the Community seeks an enthusiastic, charismatic, and dedicated coach for our Football & Education department. The Community Football Coach will deliver quality coaching sessions to Junior Premier League development squads, BTEC education programs, and lead development centers (U7 to U12). Responsibilities include organizing after school clubs, holiday courses, managing a Junior Premier League team, and supporting school-based mentoring or small group sessions.

Hours are flexible, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with match day duties within the Junior Premier League Development programme. The position is a full-time fixed-term contract for 12 months, with potential extension based on objectives met.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage an age group within the Football development programme (JPL).
  • Assist with the BTEC education programme, including match days.
  • Deliver coaching sessions across various settings, including schools and holiday courses.
  • Participate in the annual boys or girls tour to Holland.
  • Support the professional development of less experienced coaches.
  • Organize meetings for business development and promotion.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, health & safety, equal opportunities, and other policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date DBS, safeguarding, first aid, and coaching certifications.
  • Contribute to personal professional development through courses.
  • Maintain registers and administrative records accurately and promptly.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Trustees.

General Expectations:

Represent Pompey in the Community professionally at all times, including presentation, hygiene, conduct, and attitude. Be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and match days.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • FA Level 2 Coaching Football Award (NGB Level 2)
  • FA Youth Module 1 (or willingness to achieve)
  • Valid Safeguarding, First Aid certificates (or willingness to update)
  • Current FA Coaching Licence (or willingness to undertake CPD)
  • Full UK Driving Licence and own vehicle
  • FA UEFA B Licence
  • FA Youth Modules 2 and 3
  • Sports-related degree

Experience:

  • Experience coaching football to youth.
  • Experience working with young people and recruiting participants.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing CPD and professional development.
  • Proficient with IT systems and report writing.
  • Experience managing volunteers and information systems.

Other Duties:

  • Comply with staff policies.
  • Assist with marketing campaigns and reporting to trustees.
  • Perform additional duties as deemed appropriate by the Trustees.
