Core to the English Department ethos is a deep‑rooted love of learning, where teachers strive to enrich the learning experience of their students through quality‑first teaching and extracurricular opportunities. Students regularly attend trips to the theatre, in‑school productions, and workshops led by published poets, authors and university lecturers. We take pride in nurturing talent and enter students into department‑based and national writing competitions, offering opportunities for publication. Further, we develop students’ oracy skills, creating articulate speakers and supporting participation in national and inter‑school speaking competitions.
