EF Torquay Summer School – Activities & Events Coordinator (Summer 2026)
EF Torquay Summer School is seeking energetic, outgoing and organised individuals to join our Activities & Events Team as Activities & Events Coordinator for summer 2026.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, planning and delivering a diverse range of activities, events and excursions that create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for our international students outside of class.
- Full-time
- 5 days a week
- Fixed-term contract between June – August 2026

Responsibilities
- Lead daily and evening activities, setting a positive example for Activity Leaders through strong student engagement and a clear focus on welfare and wellbeing
- Design, plan and deliver interactive games, events and sessions that foster participation, fun and a sense of community
- Oversee and coordinate outdoor activities and events, ensuring effective group management, safety, and a consistently positive atmosphere
- Support and guide Activity Leaders during activities, ensuring sessions are well-managed, engaging, and delivered to EF standards
- Confidently manage large groups of students in both indoor and outdoor settings, maintaining control, energy, and student engagement
- Respond to student and team feedback, adapting activities and approaches to meet evolving interests and needs
- Promote activities and excursions using social media and other communication tools to maximise student awareness and participation
- Ensure all activity information, schedules and booking communications are accurate, current and clearly shared
- Observe activities and provide feedback to ensure a consistently standard of delivery
- Handle incidents and emergencies calmly and professionally, following EF procedures to ensure student safety
- Maintain a strong focus on health & safety and safeguarding, prioritising student wellbeing at all times
- Liaise with local, national and international service providers to support events and activities and maintain strong working relationships
- Participate in the Emergency Phone rotation as required
Requirements
- Highly motivated, energetic and positive, with a sociable and outgoing personality
- Highly organised and thorough, able to use initiative and work independently
- Confident in leading and managing large groups of students in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Previous experience in outdoor education, camps, activity coordination or instructor roles, with responsibility for group management
- Proven ability to take a visible leadership role outdoors, setting tone, energy and expectations for students and staff
- Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally, remaining composed under pressure
- Appreciation of cultural differences and sensitivity to the needs of international students
- Flexible approach to working hours and schedules
- Trained First Aider (preferable but not essential)
- Experience working with 13–17 year olds (preferable but not essential)
- All offers are subject to a clear enhanced DBS check and two references
- Right to work in the UK on commencement of employment
