Job description
Join us as a Strategy & Operations Manager (Data)

Want to do work that really matters?

At Checkatrade, we’re building the UK’s go-to home improvement marketplace. Every day, we help millions of homeowners find the right tradesperson for the job, fast, fair, and without the faff.

We’re looking for a sharp, strategic thinker who turns data into direction. As our next Strategy & Operations Manager (Data), you’ll sit at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and innovation. You’ll shape how we measure success, uncover growth opportunities, and embed AI into the way our teams operate, from smarter insights to automated decision-making.

You’ll be the go-to person for transforming data into action: spotting what matters, simplifying the complex, and helping teams make better decisions faster. And you’ll champion the adoption of AI tools and techniques across the team, leading by example in how data and automation drive scale.

Forget long lists, here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:
  • You’ll deliver insights that help shape strategy and drive real business results, not just dashboards for the sake of it.
  • Making things clearer, faster. From better forecasting to smarter reporting, you’ll lead analytics that improve how we plan and run the business.
  • Turn complex analysis into clear insights - helping product, marketing and sales teams make sharper decisions.
  • Create self-serve dashboards and scalable reporting that give teams the answers they need, when they need them.
  • Work with leaders across the business to find smart ways data and AI can give us an advantage - and help make them happen.
  • Champion AI adoption by testing new tools, sharing what works, and helping others work smarter (not just harder).
It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in consulting, strategy, business operations, or fast-paced scale-up environments.
  • You’ve used data to solve tough business problems and guide better decisions. You’re confident working with big datasets and turning complexity into clarity. Your toolkit includes:
    • Expert in SQL and data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
    • Advanced modelling and scenario analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.
    • Able to query large datasets efficiently.
    • Build automated dashboards that simplify complex data and tell compelling stories.
    • Experience with Python, AI tools, and workflow design is a plus.
  • You’re great at breaking down a problem, structuring your approach, and linking day-to-day work to long-term business goals.
  • You spot trends others miss and turn them into practical, insight-led recommendations that help teams move faster and smarter.
  • You deliver high-quality work at pace and know how to make an impact without overengineering things.
We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s just a taste:
  • Excellent salary + annual bonus scheme
  • Car allowance
  • Private medical cover
  • Health, well-being and learning support
  • Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle Scheme
  • Birthday/Special day leave
  • Buy & sell holiday scheme
  • 1 week’s paid charity leave
  • …and much more!
How we’ll get to know each other:
  • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners
  • 1st stage interview with our Head of Product and Operations (Media)
  • 2nd stage interview includes a case study with a panel of key business stakeholders across Product, Marketing and Operations

If you require any reasonable adjustments during our interview process, please discuss them with your Talent Acquisition Partner.

If this sounds like the place where you can do your best work, we’d love to hear from you, even if you don’t tick every box.
