The Storage Engineering team is responsible for managing a diverse range of storage solutions, including high-performance scale‑out clusters, block storage, object storage and archival systems. The team designs, deploys and operates the platforms that underpin our business.
You will partner with Researchers, Software Engineers, Network teams and external vendors, including Dell, VAST, HPE and Rubrik, to optimise workflows and resolve issues.
There is also the opportunity to contribute to our development backlog, focusing on automation, customer-facing tools and observability enhancements.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Monitoring and troubleshooting events affecting platform health
Conducting deep‑drop investigations and managing incidents
Analysing HPC workflows used by Research teams
Operating, maintaining and extending IaC pipelines and storage tooling
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Experience managing high-performance, scalable, and resilient infrastructure solutions
Linux system administration skills
Proficiency in Python or similar
A strong interest in GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices, with exposure to tools such as Ansible, Jenkins and Kubernetes
Experience with storage administration
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams and the wider business
