What You Will Do

1. Assessment and Casework

Undertake timely, high-quality statutory assessments in line with the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018).

Visit families post-referral, assessing needs and risks to create strengths-based, outcome-focused plans.

Manage a varied caseload and maintain detailed, accurate records.

Lead Section 47 inquiries, attend strategy meetings, and produce professional reports for reviews and court proceedings.

2. Safeguarding and Risk Management

Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns promptly and effectively.

Work collaboratively with Police, Education, Health, and other partners to ensure comprehensive risk management.

Adhere to the Halton Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures for serious cases.

3. Duty and Response Work

Participate in the duty rota, prioritising new referrals and responding swiftly to urgent situations.

Provide clear advice and guidance to families and professionals alike.

4. Partnership and Multi-Agency Collaboration

Develop strong working relationships with partner agencies for holistic, effective family support.

Attend and actively contribute to multi-agency meetings.

5. Professional Growth and Development

Maintain registration with Social Work England and follow Halton’s professional practice framework.

Engage in continuous professional development (CPD), supporting peers and mentoring student social workers where appropriate.

6. Recording, Reporting, and Performance

Keep comprehensive and up-to-date case notes.

Meet statutory and internal performance targets while maintaining confidentiality in line with GDPR.
