Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Clinical Education team as a Simulation Technician. You will play a vital role in supporting high‑quality immersive learning experiences for healthcare staff. This exciting role combines technical expertise with creativity, supporting the set‑up, operation, and maintenance of cutting‑edge simulation technologies—including high‑fidelity manikins, audio‑visual systems, and virtual reality platforms.

As a key member of the simulation team you will lead technical operations during training scenarios, ensuring smooth, realistic, and engaging learning environments. You will also be responsible for equipment servicing, troubleshooting, and supporting programme administration such as feedback collection and data management.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong IT and AV skills who enjoys problem‑solving, teamwork and hands‑on technical work. The role offers the chance to directly enhance clinical training and make a real impact on patient care.

Main Duties
  • Operate high‑fidelity manikins and manage simulation equipment (AV, VR, materials) to ensure smooth training delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain learning spaces, provide technical support during sessions and collaborate with educators.
  • Manage digital tools (Forms, Lists, SharePoint) to support programmes.
  • Maintain equipment, oversee servicing and contribute to audits, evaluation and reporting of malfunctions.
  • Uphold confidentiality, policies and health and safety standards.
  • Support inter‑departmental collaboration, agendas, invites and secretarial duties.
  • Oversee equipment storage and booking, liaise with providers for servicing and manage procurement of equipment and consumables.
  • Provide faculty training on simulation technology and support data collection, logistics and multi‑site presentations.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Educated to NVQ level 4, Diploma or equivalent experience at a level 4 standard.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 applications.
  • Experience or willingness to undertake training in digital technology and simulation‑based education.
  • Experience with IT equipment including audio/visual technology and proficiency in learning new systems.
  • Proven teamwork skills and ability to manage departmental objectives.
Desirable
  • Qualification or training in relevant digital technology and simulation‑based education.
  • Knowledge of technologies used to facilitate simulated learning.
  • Experience of working in a health‑care environment.
  • Experience setting up, operating and managing digital technologies and audio/visual recording equipment.
  • Experience delivering education, learning and development sessions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint page design and management.
