Job summary

A leading consultancy firm in Milton Keynes seeks an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage cost consultancy services on high-value construction projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years of experience, a bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, and preferably chartered status (MRICS). About The Role

Overview:
Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our cost management team. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of cost consultancy services on high-value construction projects across sectors such as data centres, healthcare, commercial, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of pre- and post-contract quantity surveying duties for complex projects.
  • Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets, and feasibility studies at various design stages.
  • Lead tendering and procurement processes, including BOQ production and bid evaluations.
  • Conduct value engineering, risk assessments, and cost control strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Administer contracts (e.g., FIDIC, JCT, NEC), including assessing variations, EOTs, and preparing final accounts.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to manage commercial expectations and resolve disputes or claims.
  • Oversee the work of junior quantity surveyors and provide mentorship and guidance.
  • Prepare detailed cost reports, forecasts, and recommendations for stakeholders and senior management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in cost management or quantity surveying, preferably in a consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding of various procurement methods and standard forms of contract (FIDIC, NEC, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and client-facing skills.
  • Chartered status (MRICS, AIQS, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale or technically complex projects (e.g., data centres, hospitals, infrastructure).
