# Senior Occupational Therapist – Orthopaedics(UK Visa Sponsorship)### Job Description## About the RoleDoncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT (DBTH) is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our established inpatient orthopaedic therapy team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI). This role plays a key part in delivering integrated, high-quality therapy services to orthopaedic patients, supporting safe discharge, patient flow, and reducing length of stay.The successful candidate will have experience in acute inpatient care, possess the required Occupational Therapy qualifications and HCPC registration, and demonstrate flexibility to work across multiple sites and a 7-day service.You will be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team focused on rehabilitation, recovery, and patient-centered care.### Key Responsibilities* Assess and provide occupational therapy interventions for patients within the orthopaedic speciality.* Support and manage the day-to-day functioning of the Occupational Therapy team in your specialist area.* Contribute to the development and improvement of orthopaedic therapy services across the Trust.* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams to deliver coordinated patient care.* Provide supervision, appraisal, and professional development support for junior and support staff.* Ensure clinical governance standards are maintained in line with Trust policies.* Promote inclusive, equitable care for all patients, reflecting the Trust’s values.### Person Specification**Qualifications & Training (Essential):*** Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.* HCPC Registration: Health & Care Professions Council* Evidence of reflective practice and professional development portfolio.**Desirable:*** Membership of RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapists)* L’APPLE accreditation* Leadership training**Knowledge & Experience (Essential):*** Minimum 18 months post-qualification experience.* At least 6 months in acute inpatient care with experience in discharge planning and facilitation.* Experience in multi-disciplinary team working.* Experience supervising or appraising junior and support staff.**Desirable**:Experience of professional cross-boundary working across services or organisations.**Personal Attributes & Skills (Essential):*** Strong commitment to team collaboration and professional support.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* IT proficiency relevant to clinical practice.* Ability to prioritise and manage own and others’ caseloads effectively.* Understanding of clinical governance and patient safety implications.**Legal & Regulatory Requirements*** This post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check: DBS Checks – GOV.UK* Skilled Worker visa applicants are eligible* Overseas applicants must provide criminal record certificates:* Current UK professional registration is mandatory: NHS Careers – Occupational Therapy#### About Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FTDBTH serves over 440,000 people across South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, employing 7,000+ staff.
