Job description

You are applying for the position of Senior Manager Student Wellbeing for company UNSW College. Please fill in your details below to submit an application for this position.

As the Senior Manager, Student Wellbeing, you will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health support, early intervention programs, crisis and risk management, and case management services. You will shape proactive wellbeing initiatives, enhance resilience‑building programs, and maintain strong referral pathways for students with complex needs or disabilities.

A critical part of this role includes leadership of our Under 18 and Student Accommodation teams, ensuring all practices align with ESOS, National Code and HESF requirements. You will also act as the senior escalation point for welfare emergencies and critical incidents, coordinating timely and professional responses across UNSW College.

Key responsibilities
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership across Student Wellbeing, U18 and Accommodation services.
  • Overseeing critical incident and crisis responses, including after‑hours escalation.
  • Designing and implementing inclusive, evidence‑based wellbeing programs.
  • Managing mental health assessments, referral pathways and case management processes.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance across all wellbeing operations, reporting and documentation.
  • Building strong partnerships with UNSW Health, Security, Psychology & Wellness, Equitable Learning Services and other stakeholders.
  • Delivering insights, reporting and recommendations that inform organisational strategy.
About You

You are an experienced wellbeing or mental health leader with qualifications in Social Work or Psychology (AASW or AHPRA registration required). You bring expertise in case management, crisis intervention, student wellbeing, and compliance in a higher‑education or similar setting. You’re a confident communicator and have a strong track record in leading teams and working across organisations, through complex and fast‑paced situations with professionalism and empathy.
