Upto £50K per annum based on experience

Main purpose of job role:

A hands‑on senior design engineering role responsible for leading individual projects within a small Engineering team, overseeing work allocation and ensuring outputs are accurate and completed to agreed timescales. Provide technical support to Application Engineering, Sales and Manufacturing Departments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a work schedule defining all project tasks and agreed timescales for significant orders of new products.
  • Account Manager for an important established customer. Tracking activity from initial quote to final product release. e.g. quotes, visits and supplier audits, submitting sign‑off paperwork.
  • Assist in reviewing and improving the procedures and software used during New Product Introduction and Technical data management, e.g. transition to SharePoint, Vault.
  • Prepare, review and approve drawings, technical specifications, reports etc.
  • Analyse sales/customer requirements and prepare technical proposals, specifications, and drawings for tender.
  • Detailed design calculations e.g. Tolerances/ Stress analysis, etc. Verification of calculations from Applications.
  • Develop methods for validating new products to ensure performance specifications are met.
  • Prepare detailed engineering sign‑off documentation, as per customer requested format, e.g. Databooks. Collate evidence of compliance to relevant design standards and codes.
  • Monitor and control unit and project costs to meet profit targets and agreed budgets.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, sales & customers.

Essential Qualifications:

HNC/ HND/ Degree in an Engineering Discipline

Desirable Qualifications / Experience:

  • Autodesk Vault
  • MathCAD
  • DFMEA / PFMEA
  • Experience supplying to Nuclear sector
  • Experience with injection mouldings
  • Pressure Vessel Design PD5500, ASME, PED
  • FEA / CFD
  • Project Management

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Competent understanding of fluid mechanics theory and practise
  • CAD and 3D Solid Modelling skills
  • High degree of proficiency with Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Minimum 4 years Industry experience

Experience Required:

  • Entire design process from initial concept to production
  • Fabrication and welding industry experience

Personal Skills Required:

  • Excellent organisational skills & disciplined methodical approach to engineering tasks.
  • Focused on meeting regulatory and customer specification requirements.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
