Overview

Are you a Senior Civil Engineer with experience in the buildings sector? Do you have a passion for delivering projects for a variety of clients?

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join us within our Buildings team in Birmingham. We are looking for someone with expertise in civil engineering design to deliver multi-disciplinary projects for the entire lifecycle – from feasibility, concept and planning submission through to construction details and site inspections. Our projects are varied and frequently require collaboration with multiple discipline experts across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of civil engineering planning and design solutions
  • Prepare plans and drawings at all stages of the development cycle (concept through to construction)
  • Design earthworks, internal site roads, pavements and drainage and prepare the associated specifications
  • Ensure high-quality delivery in design through QA checks
  • Liaise with Local Authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals
  • Deliver highway schemes, S38/S278 – both preliminary and detailed, and S104 applications
  • Prepare fee proposals and determine project scope, budget and programme
  • Delegate and supervise the work of more junior team members and act as a coach
  • Liaise with clients, third-party bodies and multi-disciplinary teams on all relevant aspects of projects
Key Requirements
  • Experienced Civil Engineer, degree qualified, and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or progressing toward chartership) with the ICE
  • Proven experience delivering commercially successful projects with strong client engagement skills and the ability to influence
  • Preference for experience in coaching and managing junior engineers and collaborating with the wider project delivery team
  • Experience in: Drainage Strategies for Planning; Sustainable drainage solutions for building developments; Earthworks modelling (or willingness to learn); Pavement design (or willingness to learn); Infodrainage and AutoCAD/Civils 3d (or equivalent)
