We’re on the hunt for an exceptional Senior Administrator to join our team! We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Wealstun, working as a Senior Administrator. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

As part of the admin duties, part of the role will be supporting Open University and Distance Learning learners with the following:

  • Assist learners with understanding course materials, assignments, and academic expectations who are studying with Open University and Distance learning
  • Provide study skills support and facilitate tutorials
  • Monitor student progress and identify learners at risk of falling behind.
  • Coordinate with tutors and academic staff to ensure learning materials and assessments are accessible and inclusive.

Site Information

HMP Wealstun is located near Wetherby in West Yorkshire. Managed by His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service. The prison operates as a Category C facility, accommodating individuals who have been convicted of various offenses requiring secure custody and rehabilitation. The prisons aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisons feel safe and secure at all times. The Prisons aim is to provide a secure and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Hold or be willing to gain qualifications at level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy within agreed timescales.
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a Level 2 qualification related to ICT or Business Administration or relevant industrial experience and skills.
  • Experience in effective and efficient administration within a busy office environment.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate electronic and paper-based data recording systems.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
