Tradewind Recruitment is looking for an organised, proactive and confident Attendance Officer to join one of our partner secondary schools in Daventry. This is a key pastoral role, supporting pupils who struggle with attendance, punctuality, anxiety, disengagement or behaviour‑related absence.

Our partner schools are seeking someone who can take ownership of attendance processes, build positive relationships with students and families, and work closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams to improve daily attendance and reduce persistent absence.

About the Role
  • Monitor daily attendance, punctuality and absence using school systems.
  • Make first‑day absence calls and follow up with parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Support pupils with poor attendance, including those with SEND, SEMH, anxiety, or behaviour challenges.
  • Complete home visits (with a colleague) where necessary to support safeguarding and re‑engagement.
  • Work alongside pastoral leads and behaviour teams to identify patterns of absence and provide targeted intervention.
  • Meet with pupils regularly to discuss attendance concerns and develop action plans.
  • Build effective, professional relationships with families to reduce barriers to attendance.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation in line with safeguarding and data protection policies.
  • Support reintegration meetings and help pupils return to lessons following long or repeated absences.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, including local authority attendance and EWS teams.
