Job description

Position: Safeguarding Professional (Voluntary Advisory Board Member)

Organisation: The REIGN Collective C.I.C.

Location: Remote (UK-based)

Time commitment: Approx. 2–4 hours per month

About The REIGN Collective

The REIGN Collective is a forward-thinking Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to tackling Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSA/E) through survivor-led initiatives. Our mission is to reshape how society, systems, and institutions respond to and support those affected by CSA/E.

We do this by educating professionals, practitioners, and communities—using lived experience to challenge harmful assumptions, strengthen safeguarding practice, and help repair the systems that failed us as children. Through training, consultancy, youth engagement, and advocacy, REIGN works to improve responses to CSA/E and help safeguard children across the UK.

We are seeking a Safeguarding Professional to join our Advisory Board. This voluntary role will help ensure safeguarding remains central to everything we do, providing strategic guidance, oversight, and constructive challenge where needed.

At REIGN, our work is rooted in equity, inclusion, sustainability, collaboration, and empowerment. We are looking for someone who shares these values and actively embodies them in their professional practice.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide safeguarding oversight by offering strategic input and assurance on policies, procedures, and practice.
  • Support policy development through review and implementation aligned with statutory guidance and best practice.
  • Advise on safeguarding risk and help ensure effective systems are in place to identify, manage, and respond to concerns.
  • Contribute to training and awareness by shaping safeguarding training and ongoing learning for staff, freelancers, and board members.
  • Act as a board-level point of contact for safeguarding issues, including advising on escalation and decision-making.
  • Attend board meetings (quarterly) and relevant working groups to review safeguarding practice and share recommendations.
Qualifications and skills
  • Professional experience in safeguarding (e.g., social care, education, health, policing, or the voluntary/community sector).
  • Strong understanding of UK safeguarding frameworks and statutory requirements.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding for both children and adults at risk.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence providing advice to senior leaders/board members.
  • A collaborative, strategic approach—able to offer both challenge and support.
  • A commitment to survivor-led practice and safeguarding as a core organisational principle.
