Job summary

A leading UK university seeks a Research Associate to work on the Digging into Digital Footprints project. This position will involve qualitative research on digital data's implications for social research while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The role supports the development of an open framework for managing digital footprints in social sciences. Candidates should hold a PhD or be nearing completion with strong qualitative research skills and a commitment to interdisciplinary research. Full-time position with funding until January 2027.

Qualifications

  • A PhD (or nearing completion) in a relevant field (e.g. Sociology, Science and Technology Studies).
  • Good knowledge of digital social science.
  • Strong qualitative research skills (interviews, ethnographic approaches).
  • Experience or interest in facilitating workshops and events.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out qualitative research with participants on new forms of digital data.
  • Collaborating in the development of ‘data journeys’ of new forms of social data.
  • Co-organising workshops with researchers working with these data.
