15 Month Fixed Term Contract – Hybrid role working from our Redhill site.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and results‑driven Project Manager to join our Product and Certifications team for a 15‑month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Director of Aviation Security Approvals, you will lead global government certification and approval projects for Rapiscan Systems’ Detection Business.

This is a hands‑on role requiring strong coordination skills to manage trials, data collection, and certification processes. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including testing bodies, airports, and government authorities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

The project manager will be responsible for arranging all certification, data collection and trialling efforts under the responsibility of the Product and Certifications team.

  • Co‑coordinate and liaise with testing bodies, airports and various internal stakeholders and teams across all Rapiscan Detection Business Units.
  • Help develop, implement and maintain the equipment approvals testing process.
  • Communicate to Senior Management and Product and Certifications team members through Project Reviews and other means, updates and snapshots of the Project including:
    • Project schedule trackers
    • Financial trackers
    • Periodic reporting highlighting progress and issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage the following aspects of the Project:
    • Monitor algorithm development, software and hardware readiness
    • Risk management plan development and mitigation strategy.
    • Co‑coordinate internally between government affairs team and other stakeholders including Service, Engineering and Product Line Management teams.
    • Co‑coordinate externally with test laboratories, testing authorities, customers, contractors.
    • Take ownership of all elements of the project.
  • Document the Project including:
    • Maintaining the Project Gantt or Schedule.
    • Reporting of progress.
    • Collect relevant required documentation for individual projects.
  • Manage pre‑testing and internal gating reviews prior to shipment for test / trial.
  • Co‑coordinate deliveries of equipment and deployment of support staff.
  • Confirm System complete to BoM prior to shipping and on arrival at site including Install Tools and Spares Packages and in full compliance with the documentation requirements.
  • Manage sourcing of parts and services required by the Project.
  • Work with the identified installation and training resources to ensure that all availability, travel, planning, labour and other resources are in place to complete the Project.
  • Attend project meetings, provide meeting minutes, and coordinate between the customer and the Government Affairs and Certification teams.
  • Report any quality problems or defects arising during the Project, in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.

Qualifications
  • 5 years relevant experience as a Project Manager.
  • A good communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to articulate both the Product and Process to any Customer or Project Stakeholder.
  • Ability to develop robust plans, assess risk, develop and drive mitigation plans.
  • Have managed equipment installation Projects ideally globally but certainly within UK, Europe and/or North America.
  • Ideally, will have knowledge of aviation security, screening or inspection equipment, and have some familiarity with approvals and testing processes.
  • Experience of multi‑stakeholder projects.
  • Ability to travel to Project Sites as required a plus.
Knowledge, Training and Qualifications
  • Ideally the candidate would hold, or be able to obtain a UK security clearance.
