Role Description: As a Project Cost Consultant, you will play a key role in the Local Government sector, delivering cost and commercial management services for medium-scale projects. You will work with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure project delivery meets budget, time, and quality expectations. You will be part of the Local Government Cost and Commercial Management Team and work on our Built Environment Professional Services Framework with Cornwall Council, supplying management, design, and consultancy services to deliver the Council\'s Capital Programme.

We are seeking a candidate with strong technical expertise, leadership potential, and a passion for mentoring others while driving innovation and excellence in cost management.

Role accountabilities
  • Work alongside associate level or above to manage the delivery of cost management for medium-sized projects
  • Deliver your scope of work in line with controls; bring technical knowledge and experience in your field
  • Experience in the local government sector is advantageous but not required
  • Coach and develop other team members to share knowledge and raise the team\'s skill level
  • Assist in cost planning at various design stages and take ownership of key elements
  • Deliver a number of medium-sized cost projects or significant components of larger assignments, ensuring appropriate use of resources and budgets to meet deadlines
  • Adhere to Arcadis\' quality assurance protocols
  • Present project risks or issues to senior managers to prevent adverse impact
  • Analyse data to identify themes and trends and provide recommendations to support cost and commercial decisions
  • Apply industry best practice to analyse processes and policies
  • Share knowledge to support service improvement and innovation
  • Collaborate across the organisation to support cost management delivery
  • Provide specialist technical advice to senior management on cost/commercial issues
  • Manage relationships with clients and external stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and create new opportunities
  • Demonstrate understanding of clients\' key objectives within the sector
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in cost management, with expertise in the residential sector preferred
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills; experience supporting junior team members
  • Ability to manage projects from inception to completion
  • Experience building and maintaining client and external stakeholder relationships
  • Proficient in measurement software such as CostX or similar tools
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects
  • Deep understanding of cost and commercial management principles, particularly in the residential sector
  • Familiarity with current industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Relevant professional qualification, MRICS
  • CSCS card holder
