Role Overview

We are thrilled to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Principal Level Chartered Building Surveyor to become part of our well‑established L&I Technical Due Diligence and Building Surveying team. The position primarily involves handling transaction‑based assignments within the UK, focusing on technical advisory services while allowing room for your unique skills and career aspirations. You will manage and commission assignments effectively and collaborate within a larger commission team to secure exceptional outcomes for our clients. Direct client interaction will be a key aspect of your role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical due diligence (TDD) advice and reporting, identifying key risks, assessing severity, quantifying impact, and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Deliver core building surveying services across various commercial building types.
  • Manage risks in service delivery and contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
  • Drive organic revenue growth and support the delivery of the business plan for the commercial building surveying offering.
  • Effectively communicate to ensure all necessary information is available for project execution and completion.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Team Leaders to maintain efficient financial control and deliver a cost‑effective service.
  • Represent Arcadis professionally and act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide the Sector Director with quantifiable updates on the progress of each contract on a regular basis.
  • Support the development of junior building surveyors through mentoring and supervision.
  • Maintain time management, meet deadlines, and ensure profitability of each instruction.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree and MRICS qualified, with post‑qualification experience (PQE).
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of independent operation.
  • Multi‑disciplinary experience with a global perspective.
  • Proactive, flexible, and able to manage priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and a strong personal impact.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Innovative, self‑motivated, and commercially aware.
  • Provide concise, commercially insightful advice to clients.
  • Support the TDD team in project and assignment delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, manage expectations, and ensure timely, accurate work outputs.
  • Guide junior team members and work effectively within a team.
  • Presentable, articulate, and capable of building and maintaining relationships both within and outside the company.
