Plant Technician – Ardent Advisors

Location: Ramsey, England, United Kingdom

Pay: £16-£18 per hour (DOE)

Role Overview

You will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant assets and towable equipment, ensuring everything is in safe working order and performing at its best. You will work both independently and alongside colleagues to deliver high‑quality service and support to our operational teams.

Responsibilities
  • Servicing, maintaining, and repairing construction plant assets and towable equipment
  • Diagnosing faults using specialist tools and equipment and carrying out effective repairs
  • Performing regular inspections of machines and components to ensure safety and reliability
  • Logging maintenance and inspection records digitally on a tablet, including compliance images
  • Working closely with the workshop supervisor to plan and prioritise tasks
  • Attending breakdowns on site when required to minimise downtime and disruption
  • Delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
  • NVQ Level 2 (or above) in Plant, Mechanical, or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, with 2–3 years hand‑on experience in a similar environment
  • Strong experience in diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance; knowledge of health, safety, and compliance in a workshop setting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics; familiarity with digital systems for recording inspections
  • Comfortable using a wide range of workshop tools and equipment; proactive safety‑first approach
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems; maintaining small tools and heavy equipment is highly beneficial
  • Optional: manufacturer‑specific training or certifications, towable equipment experience, forklift or telehandler licence, mentoring junior technicians, lean or continuous improvement knowledge
  • Full UK driving licence
