Job description

Christadelphian Care Homes exists mainly, although not exclusively, to care for members of the Christadelphian Faith. We operate a number of Care Homes and Sheltered Housing schemes throughout the UK and are able to deliver care tailored to individual needs from low support through to residential, nursing and specialised care, including dementia. Here at Christadelphian Care Homes we are committed to providing the highest quality individual care and support, and creating a happy and enjoyable atmosphere ensuring that residents are fully involved. Our aim is to enable our residents to lead fulfilling lives and participate in regular activities, individually tailored to residents’ wishes.

At our site in Coventry we are looking for a Physio Assistant to join our home, working for 24 hours a week. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting residents' wellbeing and independence, ensuring that you embody the ethos and values of Christadelphian Care Homes in all that you do. You will work closely with the Physiotherapist to deliver high-quality rehabilitation services to our residents. This role is critical in helping residents maintain their mobility, improve their physical health, and enhance their quality of life.

As part of a close-knit, friendly team, you’ll use your initiative and talent to contribute to the success of the home. In return, we’ll help you build a successful career.

To be successful in this role you’ll be dedicated and passionate about helping others, being enthusiastic, positive with a can‑do attitude.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Physiotherapist in implementing individualised treatment plans for residents, including exercises, mobility training, and the use of specialised equipment.
  • Accurately record residents' progress, treatment sessions, and any changes in their condition in accordance with Christadelphian Care Homes' policies and regulations.
  • Maintain open communication with residents, their families, and the care team to provide updates on progress and address any concerns. Building close and effective relationships with those you come into contact with, is essential for creating a positive environment for both residents and colleagues alike.
  • Collaborate with the care team to incorporate physiotherapy goals into residents' daily routines and activities.
  • Assist the Physiotherapist with moving and handling when they perform assessments, and help residents with walking, transfers, and other mobility tasks to promote independence and prevent falls.
  • Assess for and issue mobility aids to residents as delegated by the Physiotherapist and provide advice and guidance on how to use aids as appropriate, making sure mobility aids are in good working order and report faults, cleaning in between resident use.
  • Motivate and persuade residents using varying strategies to get patients to engage with their rehabilitation where pain may be an issue, offering alternative pain relief options e.g. hot/cold packs when needed.
  • Actively identify risks associated with using safe manual handling procedures with hoists, wheelchairs, mobility aids, and exercise equipment.
  • Lead a physio‑prescribed exercise class where training and resident selection has been approved by the Physiotherapist.
  • Maintain residents' dignity, being respectful of individual needs and wishes at all times working towards their goals as agreed with the Physiotherapist.
  • Exhibit the ethos and values of Christadelphian Care Homes at all times.

As well as a generous hourly rate, paid holiday and uniform, Christadelphian Care Homes will give you the necessary support to grow your career within the Care Sector. If you’d like to use your physio and people skills in an organisation that provides the quality care you’d expect for your loved ones, then we would like to hear from you.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
