A local council authority is seeking part-time Leisure Assistants for seasonal work at Whitley Bay Mini Golf and Foot Golf. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean environment, customer service, and managing daily operations. Ideal candidates will have a proactive approach, knowledge of outdoor sports, and be comfortable working independently. Full training will be provided. This role runs from March 2026 to August 2026 on a rota basis, with flexible hours during school holidays.
Sport & Leisure are recruiting 4 part time Leisure Assistants to work at Whitley Bay Mini Golf & Foot Golf. The posts will work alongside the wider team supporting the operations of the outdoor facility throughout the spring and summer season.
The team operates a variety of outdoor facilities throughout the year, including tennis courts, football pitches and a community athletics track. We offer a variety of coach led sessions and public hire across all facilities.
Opening and closing the facility will form your daily routine, while serving customers throughout the day. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment which includes some basic grounds maintenance.
You will work independently and be responsible for the daily operations of the facility. A significant part of your duties will include cleaning tasks and ICT responsibilities. Delivering excellent customer service at all times is an essential part of the role.
You should have a basic understanding of outdoor sport and leisure facilities within the borough, as well as Active North Tyneside initiatives. Full training will be provided during your induction. A proactive approach to signposting visitors to our wider services is vital to maintaining our reputation.
You will be confident in problem-solving and willing to seek support from a Team Leader when necessary. Collaboration with the wider team is key to ensuring the smooth operation of the facility.
This is a seasonal role for a maximum of 23 weeks, running from March 2026 to August 2026. Staff are required for the full contract period on a rota basis, with hours adjusted during school holidays.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and an Enhanced DBS disclosure, including Barred List Check, will be required.
