Lawyer - Litigation - Contentious Probate - South

HCB Solicitors Limited are currently looking for an ambitious full time Solicitor/CILEX to work within our Litigation team. The candidate will ideally have experience of contentious probate litigation.

Following the relevant legislation and policies will be a key part of the role so you will need a good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules, SRA policies and other relevant codes of practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Having conduct of a case load appropriate for a full time fee earner
  • Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
  • Advising clients on contentious matters
  • Draft pleadings, statements of case and pre-issue documentation and file with the court as appropriate
  • Perform administrative duties (comply and adhere to deadlines, organise case files, manage files etc)
  • Attend court/conferences with or without counsel as required
  • Organise exhibits, documents, evidence, and briefs
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
  • Liaise with internal/external third parties
  • Provide assistance with larger claims undertaken by other fee earners

Person Specification

  • The ideal candidate will bring with them/be:
  • At least five years’ experience working within a similar role (this is desirable although not essential)
  • Great communication skills and an ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work under time constraints and prioritise work load
  • Able to handle sensitive matters discreetly
  • Good organisation skills with a methodical approach
  • Self‑motivated and proactive
  • Deliver excellent service to clients and colleagues

Details:

  • Office base: Bedford, Northampton or Leicester
  • Full time role – Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.15 pm
  • Pension contribution
  • 26days holiday in addition to Bank Holidays.
