Job summary

A local educational institution in Tees Valley is looking for a KS2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils' learning and wellbeing. Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.

Job description
Purpose of the Role

The purpose as a KS2 Teaching Assistant is to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development by working closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging, inclusive, and effective lessons. Providing targeted support to individuals and small groups, helping pupils to build confidence, develop key skills, and achieve their full potential. Promoting positive behaviour, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment, and supporting all children, to access the curriculum and make progress both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities in line with the KS2 curriculum
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and support progress
  • Prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials
  • Observe, record, and give feedback on pupil progress to the class teacher
  • Support children’s personal, social and emotional development
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive attitudes to learning
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, interventions, and other school activities
  • Assist with classroom organisation, displays, and general housekeepingFollow safeguarding procedures and ensure pupils’ welfare at all times
  • Support children’s emotional wellbeing and report concerns in line with school policy
  • Support assessment activities and learning interventions as directed
  • Support positive communication with parents and carers
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals when required
  • Attend staff meetings, training and professional development sessions
