A leading engineering consultancy in the Tees Valley area is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager. This full-time role involves developing and implementing HSE strategies, conducting compliance audits, and leading incident investigations. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in construction or petrochemical engineering and hold a NEBOSH Diploma. Our client, located in the Middlesbrough area, is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager with proven experience in Construction, Civil or Petrochemical Engineering. This key leadership role is responsible for driving the HSE strategy, ensuring compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operational areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and maintain the company’s HSE strategy, policies and management systems
  • Conduct site audits, inspections and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Provide expert HSE advice and guidance to project teams and operational staff
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near‑misses, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Deliver HSE training, inductions and toolbox talks to promote awareness and engagement across all levels
  • Maintain and update all HSE documentation, procedures and reports
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, regulatory authorities and auditors
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practice across the organisation
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in an HSE management role within construction, civil, or petrochemical engineering
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Practical experience with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems
  • Strong understanding of current UK HSE legislation and industry best practice
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Clear driving licence and access to a vehicle required for site visits

Working Hours: Monday – Friday (hours to be discussed)
