If you are an experienced Healthcare Assistant with a passion for making the patient journey as comfortable as possible we have just the role for you.

Working as a Health Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology you’ll provide support to the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to patients in a safe and caring environment. This will involve working with our Ophthalmic Nurses in outpatients and theatre.

Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

This is a Bank role across our mobile sites in Preston, Lancashire, Manchester and Yorkshire as part of the contract. Shifts start at 07.30am. Applicants would need a full and clean drivers licence and ideally have ophthalmology experience.

What you'll be doing
  • Welcoming visitors to the service in a pleasant efficient manner ensuring the appropriate person is notified of their arrival.
  • Dealing with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, being aware of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrate competence in the accurate recording of routine clinical observations.
  • Carrying out clinical skills relevant to the unit.
  • Assisting the clinical team with data entry, filing and maintenance of accurate documentation of care.
  • Ensuring treatment rooms/ areas are adequately stocked, tidy and fit for purpose.
  • Adhering to appropriate infection control procedures.
  • Participating fully as a team member sharing knowledge and information and therefore promoting a cohesive team.
  • Accurately record up to date information on records ensuring that the department is promptly informed of any changes.
  • Participating in the stock control and ordering of consumables within the clinical areas.

We are looking for someone who is willing to work hard, learn and develop in the role, but most importantly someone who understands the value of team work and a good work ethic.

The ideal applicant will have
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and be willing to undertake training to gain further clinical skills.
  • Experience or a good understanding of a HCA duties and responsibilities.
  • The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
  • The flexibility to fit into internal rotating shift pattern.
  • Ophthalmology experience is a must.
