A leading educational institution in Wales seeks a GCSE English Tutor to support Year 10 and Year 11 Junior Apprentices. Responsibilities include lesson preparation, teaching, and student assessments. Candidates should hold a degree and a teaching qualification, with knowledge of WJEC English. The role offers a fixed-term contract until July 2026 and fantastic benefits including a pension scheme and discounts.
Salary: £25,374 - £49,937 pro‑ra per annum (dependent on experience)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Apprentice English Tutor at our City Centre Campus on Dumballs Road. The Junior Apprentice Programme is aimed at Key Stage 4 learners who are disengaged in mainstream learning for various reasons. Our learners come from 22 schools across the Cardiff & Vale area and study with us for two years. The programme is vocational based, giving learners the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications in their chosen pathway. We run five pathways as part of the programme – Hair & Beauty, Catering & Hospitality, Multi Trades (Plumbing, Construction and Automotive), Health & Social Care and Digital Creative.
You will be educated to degree level with a recognised teaching qualification. You will also have knowledge of teaching WJEC English qualifications specifically the new curriculum in Wales. Knowledge and experience of teaching Junior Apprentices in a classroom environment would be advantageous. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this role.
In return we offer fantastic benefits including a generous pension scheme, access to various discounts at online and high‑street retailers through our Reward Gateway scheme, Cash Health Plan and access to exciting career pathways at the college.
Please note that this is a Fixed Term Contract until July 2026.
The closing date for completed applications 27/11/2025 at 11:59 pm.
Applications should be made using the Cardiff and Vale College application form only. The college welcomes applications in Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application in English. If we invite you to interview, let us know if you would like the interview and assessment process to be conducted in Welsh.
