Job summary

A pallet distribution network in Watford is seeking a Forklift Operator. You will be responsible for tipping and loading trailers, ensuring the quality of loads, and communicating with vehicle drivers. A valid FLT Licence is required. Shift is Monday to Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. This role offers a dynamic working environment and the chance to be part of a dedicated team.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid FLT Licence.
  • Experience in using scanning equipment or working at another pallet Hub would be beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring quality of load & transshipment of freight through the hub.
  • Performing routine pre-inspections to ensure equipment is suitable for use.
  • Providing information and communicating with customer vehicle drivers.

Job description

Fortec Distribution Network is a pallet network handling thousands of pallets a week at its hub at Watford Gap. Your main task will be working on a forklift truck tipping and loading curtain-side single-deck or double-deck trailers in our pallet Hub, on occasion you may also be required to perform manual handling to make good and secure loads or use scanning equipment to scan in and out pallets.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
  • In keeping with accepted principles of good working practice, you may be required to undertake additional or alternative duties, as directed by your Manager. You are required to carry out the following key duties and accountabilities:
  • Ensuring quality of load & transshipment of freight through the hub to its destination whether to place into a bay location or to place on to a waiting vehicle or standing trailer
  • Performing routine pre-inspections to ensure equipment is suitable for use
  • Ensuring the reporting of non-compliance/accidents/near misses/abuse/intimidation etc
  • To provide information and to communicate with customer vehicle drivers, if and when the need arises
  • Ensure reports have been compiled for damaged products/poorly presented vehicles/site damage equipment damage etc
  • Operate equipment to perform work requirements
Requirements

Hold a valid FLT Licence

Shift: Monday to Friday / 8:00 p.m. - 04.30 a.m.
