Overview

Electronic Design Engineer role at SYOS Aerospace.

SYOS is a pioneering company focused on developing industry leading utilitarian autonomous vehicles across air, land and sea. SYOS family of utilitarian vehicles are all powered with SYOS’ control system with various advanced computer vision, swarming and communication systems.

Responsibilities
  • Schematic Capture & PCB Design: Develop detailed schematics and perform multi-layer Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts for critical onboard electronic systems.
  • Digital Design: Design and implement digital circuitry for various vehicle subsystems.
  • Electronics Assembly & Debugging: Participate in the assembly of electronic prototypes and conduct fault-finding and debugging to ensure system functionality.
  • Communication Interfaces: Design and integrate interfaces including Ethernet, I2C, MIPI CSI2, and other serial communication protocols.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, particularly software, to ensure hardware-software integration and system optimization.
  • Problem Solving: Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex electronic design and integration challenges.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive design documentation, test plans, and assembly procedures.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of proven professional experience in electronics design and development.
Core & Desirable Skills
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g. Eagle, Altium Designer, KiCad, Fusion 360, etc.).
  • Experience with multi-layer PCB design.
  • Strong understanding of digital electronics design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, testing, fault-finding, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of common interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
  • Knowledge of high-power electronics, 3-phase motors, and motor drivers.
  • Experience with sensor and camera integration.
  • Understanding of mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Experience with microcontroller programming (C/C++, Assembly, Python).
  • Familiarity with development boards like Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
  • Experience with FPGAs and Hardware Description Languages (VHDL or Verilog).
