Job title: Data Operations Manager – Global Investment Operations (UK) 2-year FTC
Location: London

We deliver investment solutions that help investors target a broad range of outcomes and provide equity, fixed‑income, alternative/private markets, multi‑asset, and liquidity management strategies to more than 11,000 institutions and intermediaries worldwide.

Following the acquisition of Hermes Investments by Federated in 2018, strategic initiatives to harmonise processes and practices are a strong element of the global change agenda. This role will provide Investment Operations BAU and change management support within a programme of work designed to reinforce firm‑wide integration, create opportunities for commercial growth, and deliver operational efficiency improvements across the US and UK. Phase one of harmonisation is adoption of a consistent Trading Order Management System (OMS). Federated Hermes Limited will move from the current OMS to new Equity and Fixed income OMS platforms consistent with the US office, creating a harmonised global model. A key component is to define and establish a consistent global data model and data support operating model.
The role holder will provide day‑to‑day data operations coverage supporting the increased and more complex data operations model as we navigate creation of a uniform data architecture and migrate and consolidate data to support the future state operating environment. A strong Data platform is an important foundation and critical to the success of the TOMS interim model.
This role sits within Investment Operations reporting to the Head of Data Operations. With significant subject‑matter expertise, the Data Manager will interact closely with Senior Data Analysts, the Head of Data Operations, and the Middle‑office Senior Management Team. The holder will work with business intelligence and reporting services for Investments, Risk, Client Reporting teams, Business Development, Product Development, Finance & Marketing. Responsibilities include improving data quality, resolving complex queries, recommending and implementing improvements to processes and controls, and engaging with project teams supporting business changes.
The primary focus of the team is ensuring data feeds from service providers and market data vendors are processed into investment management and reporting systems and controlled on an exception basis, and that master data sets such as securities and other reference data are maintained to a high standard. The role holder will also be involved in system and business change, support development of data strategy and governance, and drive ongoing improvements to data quality and control globally.
