About The Role

As a Cost Engineer specialising in water infrastructure projects, you will play a crucial role in delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates for our client's B2B infrastructure estimation services. Based in Glasgow, you will prepare detailed cost estimates, analyse project specifications, and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure all estimates are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for water infrastructure projects, ensuring that all estimates are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Review and analyse project plans, specifications and other documentation to understand the scope of work and identify potential cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers and other professionals to gather and verify data for the most up‑to‑date estimates.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases and spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of data.
  • Prepare and present cost reports to internal teams and clients, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and bids, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with client requirements.
  • Conduct market research to stay updated on material costs, labour rates and industry trends.
  • Support the estimating team in evaluating and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and industry standards, maintaining professionalism and integrity.
Required Skills And Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost engineering or estimations, focused on water infrastructure projects.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Benchmark Estimating Software, CostX or similar.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively.
