Corporate Business Analyst

An exciting opportunity to work as part of Business Analysis team within the Life Transformation function. Working as a Corporate Business Analyst you will be responsible for all aspects of Analysis & Design activity across portfolios of projects and programmes. You will work closely with project professionals in other disciplines as well as individuals and teams at all levels across the wider organisation to define innovative solutions that deliver the best outcomes to our customers and M&G.

Role Purpose
  • Leads Business Analysis activity for highly ambiguous/complex large scale programmes and/or portfolios of work based on an understanding of business problems, strategic vision, Target Operating Model and change requirements
  • Defines and directs the overall approach for the Business Analyst team, guiding them to deliver the projects objectives, setting standards and providing assurance over analysis deliverables
  • Ensures clarity of the business problem / opportunity and desired business outcomes which the requirements / solutions need to meet
  • Proactively works with Senior Stakeholders to develop, analyse and prioritise requirements based on business objectives
  • Challenges and generates options to deliver optimal solutions
  • Provide oversight and assurance of analysis and design activity undertaken by immediate team and strategic partners
Role Responsibilities
  • Communicating - project teams, Transformation SMT and senior business stakeholders using appropriate methods
  • Planning and organising – Teams, Portfolio Priorities, Time, Senior Stakeholder engagement
  • Managing information – Strategy / Direction, Environmental influences, Regulatory stance
  • Monitoring and report – Portfolio Approach, Progress, Risks & Issues, Constraints, Forecasts, Benefit Realisation
  • Evaluating and decision-making – Develop Executive level conceptual / contextual models to define situations or problems
  • Communicate, liaise, and negotiate internally and externally - to facilitate the desired outcomes of the analysis and design activity
  • Producing / Defining things – An appropriate framework and structure to enable the Portfolio to progress. Methods to monitor and measure success against objectives and outcomes
  • Maintaining/repairing things – Portfolio collateral, business analysis standards, tools and techniques, Journeys, Outcomes
  • Creating and developing things – Innovative solutions, approaches and tools to solve large scale business problems
  • Recruiting People – Maintain a forward looking resource model and manage recruitment of appropriately skilled Business Analysis resources as required
  • Assessing People – Monitor and assess the skills and capabilities of the Business Analysis function
  • Training People – Identify training needs and put in place / provide the appropriate modules
  • Managing People – On-going line and task management including mentoring, setting of stretching objectives and developing tailored personal development plans
  • Formulation of direction and strategy - Support the business in setting direction and strategy through analysis and feasibility
  • Launch and implementation – Work with senior stakeholders to develop and implement innovative solutions
  • Appropriate administration – Ensure full traceability across analysis and design activity through an efficient and robust level of administration
  • Self-development and continuing personal development - Pro‑active pace with innovation, industry and best practice. On‑going assessment and development of own skills and behaviours
Technical Capabilities
  • Experience of working with 3rd party providers and senior stakeholders (up to Exec Director level) across the business and influencing thinking across a range of disparate business stakeholders
  • Experience of leading and directing teams of business analysts within large scale strategic change programmes
  • Significant experience of defining outcomes, facilitating workshops, requirements gathering, process modelling and producing business options and solution designs
  • Significant experience of working in a project environment involving process re‑engineering, journey definition, major systems change and organisational and cultural change
  • Significant experience of selecting and driving the right design approach in complex and ambiguous environments from a range of pragmatic and creative solution options
  • Significant experience of analysing complex business information and desired outcomes to understand and drive change requirements, solution design and programme initiation
Knowledge
  • Detailed knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors
  • Detailed knowledge of how project and large programme environments work
  • Detailed knowledge of a range of analysis tools and techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of Life business systems and distribution methods
  • Detailed knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislator frameworks
  • Detailed knowledge of industry best practice, good network/links with external bodies and individuals in the same field
