Job description

As part of the wider Transport team in County Hall, staff in the Control Room deliver and implement a 24/7 service, providing a safe, informed and accessible city for all road users. This includes using systems such as City Centre Access, Tunnel Scada and CCTV. We are looking for someone exceptional to lead that team with innovation, dedication and the ability to navigate a future move to a brand new location.

About the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join us as the Temporary Part time Control Room Manager.

The Control Room Manager will be responsible for:

  • The management of a number of different existing systems
  • Ensure the integrity and compliance of a multi functional control room
  • The development and design of new control systems
  • Managing the relocation of the control room while maintaining 24/7 provision
  • Management of the team of Control Room officers, including on Digigov
  • Participation in emergency response; this involves being available to contribute to the on call rota as required
What We Are Looking For From You
  • Suitable qualifications e.g., an HNC or equivalent in Electronic or Electrical Engineering; relevant industry qualifications e.g., Security Industry Authority CCTV licence
  • Experience in management of the relevant systems as stipulated above
  • Experience of and ability in managing a team
  • Experience of managing technical security in a control room environment
  • A commitment to high quality customer service
  • The ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with emergency services

Special Circumstances

The post holder must:

  • be able to work additional hours as and when required
  • Hold a full, valid driving licence

This role is part-time at 20 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. The advertised salary is based on a full-time role (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). The actual salary will be lower than the advertised salary because of the part-time hours and weeks worked.

This post is temporary for 3 years.
