Position Summary

This position is for a full-time Construction Technician in our Construction Services Group at our offices in Saginaw, St. Johns, East Lansing, Dundee, and Bingham Farms.

Typical Day on the Job

  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and project managers for municipal and MDOT infrastructure projects.
  • Monitoring construction work to ensure compliance with specifications and standards, and maintaining detailed records.
  • Communicating with clients and owners, attending meetings, reviewing shop drawings, performing quantity take-offs, and generating preliminary cost estimates.
  • Performing office duties such as reviewing payrolls, compliance documents, and generating pay estimates and contract modifications.
  • Familiarity with MDOT specifications and standards is preferred.
  • Conducting material testing including HMA, concrete, aggregate sampling, and testing, as well as mechanical and compaction testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Construction inspection experience, especially in municipal infrastructure and MDOT projects
  • Valid driver’s license
