Job description
Overview

Lead CCTV operations at Tesco to ensure safety and efficiency for all. Joining a skilled team, you will take charge of the proactive monitoring, upkeep, and enhancement of CCTV systems across our estate. Your responsibilities will be instrumental in preventing losses, responding to incidents, and ensuring operational continuity to safeguard individuals, assets, and brand reputation.

This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive attitude. You’ll need to be confident in diagnosing faults, implementing situational and systemic solutions, and ensuring compliance with data protection and security standards. You will be responsible for
  • Providing and coordinating the technical service support function for CCTV category.
  • Reviewing our current CCTV maintenance model to find opportunities for improvement, and exploring creative methods to optimize efficiency and availability.
  • Ensuring comprehensive technical comprehension and supervision of traditional and IP CCTV systems, encompassing configuration, fault diagnosis, and integration with network infrastructure (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs).
  • Collaborating with IT and networking teams to integrate CCTV systems into Tesco’s secure network to ensure ongoing connectivity for remote monitoring operations.
  • Supporting the internal specialist CCTV field team to respond to future business-led initiatives, ensuring capability to provide effective continued service support.
  • Providing additional responsibilities including Cash Conveyance & Checkout systems technical support.
  • Establishing effective relationships with wider teams, colleagues and supporting contractors, communicating and managing expectations where necessary.
  • Collaborating with team members and external partners to improve and implement strategies.
  • Resolving blockers to success through clear communication and collaboration with peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Keeping up to date with industry and legislative changes, and implementing process changes as required, sharing knowledge with wider teams.
  • Providing oversight and understanding of technical issues highlighted by field-based colleagues/contractors, developing resolutions, delivering best practise, and implementing change to deliver estate-wide solutions.
  • Site visits as required in line with technical categories, regarding incidents/investigations/information gathering.
  • Guiding own progress and advancement without focusing on specific measurements.
You will need

Being an essential part of our technical management team, you will display keenness for maintaining high standards. With prior experience in maintenance, engineering, or construction domains, you will be proficient in using IT equipment, including proficient use of Microsoft 365.

Experience relevant for this role
  • Engineering experience in CCTV systems, with hands-on knowledge of both analogue and IP technologies.
  • Engineering/IT/CCTV qualification, ideally with networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA).
  • Customer/stakeholder escalation management.

  • Working with external regulatory bodies.
  • IOSH qualification (desirable).
Technical Competencies
  • Analogue CCTV system architecture and maintenance.

  • CCTV software platforms and video management systems (VMS) – including Target.
