Care Assistant -(Twilight)

Do you have a passion for helping others and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of older residents? The Home Carlingford Lodge Care Home, located in the beautiful port town of Warrenpoint, offers a warm and supportive environment for 58 residents across three units: General Nursing, Dementia Nursing and a General Residential unit. The Home Manager, along with a professional team of nurses, carers, an administrator and ancillary support from housekeeping, catering and maintenance, welcomes new team members who share a commitment to high‑quality, person‑centred care.

The Care Assistant will play a pivotal role in the day‑to‑day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring the well‑being and comfort of residents, and providing emotional support and companionship. Working shifts are 5pm‑11pm.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, eating and mobility.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship, helping residents maintain a good quality of life.
  • Encourage residents to maintain independence and involve them in activities where possible.
  • Help with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents’ well‑being and reporting changes in health or behaviour.
  • Follow individual care plans to ensure comfort and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and homely environment for residents.

Required Criteria
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good standard of oral and written English.
  • A non‑judgemental approach to others.
  • Excellent communication skills and compassion required to deliver high‑quality care.
  • Respectful towards residents and other team members’ values and beliefs.
Desired Criteria
  • Educated to QCF/NVQ Level 2 desirable, but not essential.
  • Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred; full training will be provided if not.
Skills Needed

Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, patience and the ability to build meaningful relationships with residents. Adaptability, reliability and a commitment to maintaining the dignity and respect of all individuals.
